Public participation - Presentatios from Judy Annan and Dinah Bardgett of Fairtrade Frome, Steve Read, Managing Director of the Somerset Waste Partnership & Mary Phillips of Frome Development Community Interest Company.

Response to the Portas Review (see the FP article here) - a paper by the Chief Executive suggesting support for most of the proposals especially "through its new organisational structure." Download the Chamber of Commerce report.

Youth Service changes - FTC recommendation is;

These proposals from SCC are very disappointing and the haste with which they are being implemented allows very little time for a proper alternative strategy to be considered. None of the options are palatable without further detail and within the given timetable.

The recommendation is that the Town Council support none of them, and FTC advises SCC of that decision whilst requesting local County Councillors lobby on our behalf on the principle that further time is required. Also for early and positive negotiations on the future of the Frome Youth Centre.

Cheese & Grain photovoltaic project and FTC office relocation possibilities;

This is a complex issue and there are many options. The main ones appear to be;

1. To defe rboth projects until a firm set of proposals have come forward from the Capital & Asset Programme Pathfinder project.

2. To proceed with the PV project whilst also preparing a feasibility study for the office move.

3. To proceed with the PV project whilst rejecting the concept of office relocation to the C&G.

See FTC website for more information.
