I have just read the Mary Portas review on the future of our high streets. Very long and repetitive in places, but very interesting. I think there could be some legs in the idea of bringing the whole of Frome together as one big shopping & service space. As a shopping mall has a roof and is surrounded by walls this could be achieved by the creation of 'Virtual Frome' populated with all the shops & services. A mapped key to all categories of product and services and links to there relative websites. There could also be a possibility of 'Virtual Frome' being affiliated with retailers and service providers to pay commission when products or services are sold through 'Virtual Frome'.
I think 'Virtual Frome' could be a showcase for getting people to visit Frome and also showcase to the Frome locals exactly what's on their doorstep. 'Virtual Frome' would put a roof and walls around the town encapsulating it as a virtual shopping mall bringing it onto a level playing field with the out of town shopping centres. Just a pipe dream? What do you think?

Thanks for the post, and apologies that I hadn't seen it before.
This is something that the Chamber of Commerce proposed to Frome Town Council about 2 years ago, but which they didn't take up. That was for a managed website combined with a managed PR strategy for the town.
We are talking to the new Council about it now, and general marketing of Frome. The Frome Town Team bid for Portas Funds includes a "Frome App" which would do something much like this.
With the development of Social Media over the past two years they may be more important than a website alone. St Catherines had/has one http://tinyurl.com/78zepzz but they are hard work to keep up to date and relevant.
    Keep the good ideas coming.
