That's not an explanation! "We can't give you all the details of the new structure because they have yet to be finalised".
I still don't understand why they have chosen to suspend the committee structure without having a new plan in place. They claim the old system was outdated and outmoded yet have not had time to scrutinise the process. I think the IfF are right in that the committees need to be looked at to see if there are better and more efficient ways of running the TC. Frome might need less, Frome might need more, but I don't think anyone is able to make that decision without looking at the current system first.
On wednesday 18th may the IfF voted all power to the unelected chief executive. At least for the time being the councillors that the people of Frome voted for are unable to do the things we voted them to do. What a crazy decision to make during the same month the Saxonvale site goes on sale!
The IfF say they cannot give us any details on the new structures because they are not finalised and want to discuss with the other 7 councillors. How as a member of the public can I feel confident that the structures will be approved by the next meeting in June or is Frome at risk of being run by unelected peoples for months to come?
Mercifull, it's not an explanation of a proposed new structure but it is an explanation of why the current structure has been suspended. As a member of the public you can't be confident that the proposed structure will be adopted at the next meeting, just as those proposing it can't assume that it will be approved. However, as the statement says "If rejected, the old committee structure will be reinstated". The suspension will not continue beyond the June Council meeting.
