Reading through the documents going to Cabinet - here - http://tinyurl.com/6jb43oeâommitteeMeeting.asp?id=SX9â452-A7836401 it is clear that the press release saying "the existing council offices, opened in the 1980s, are in dire need of improvement work and upgrading" is a total exaggeration when condition surveys say they are fine. And sharing offices with other agencies does not 'require' that £2.68 mill is spent. Cutting public services then spending on internal costs is a cruel decision. DTZ have obviously been appointed to prove it is a great idea.
Well reading the article from the first comment on 'this is somerset,' I don't really see the big problem you have? I think investing in a new structure of working to perhaps better the mentality of employees could improve on their commitment and work production. It works for Google offices it even works for Frome's very own 'Forward Space.' On top of this isn't 300 new jobs a great thing for the economy of the area anyway? The 3 million pounds possibly spent will have a worthwhile long term interest.

ReportThank you 'aFromePerson' (pray tell who you really are) for suggesting that Mendip staff need to 'better their mentality' having suffered recent staff cuts, additional workload & shifting job descriptions. They will cope admirably I know, but to suggest these are new jobs is quite wrong. Read the background reports to see that they are merely moving from other buildings, which will no doubt remain vacant. No innovative thinking I'm afraid.
