New eye care service for Frome

Residents of Frome are soon to have access to a brand new eye care facility from local independent Opticians Eyetech.  The facility will open on the 15th January in the new Frome Health Centre at Enos Way.  Eyetech's Darren Kirton will take on the role of Principal Optometrist at the centre, attending to both routine and emergency appointments.

Patients visiting the new practice will be able to receive immediate advice on emergency eye care issues such as red eye, pain, flashes, floaters and mild traumas.  This should reduce the need for referral to hospitals in Bath and Bristol hospital.  Routine eye examinations and ocular health checks will also be available for patients with day to day vision challenges such as myopia and presbyopia.

"The health centre brings together a range of medical services under one roof and will be an invaluable resource for the town," said Guy Dawe-Lane, Eyetech Director.  "As a longstanding local business, we are delighted to be playing our part and extending our role in the community.  We are looking forward to officially welcoming our first patients in January."

Eyetech's existing practice in Frome Market Place will continue to offer eye care services and specialist advice on eye wear and contact lenses.  This includes international and niche brand spectacles, plus safety eye wear, prescription ski and swimming goggles and cycling glasses.  The practice also runs a home visiting service and offers the Eyeplan eye care scheme to make high quality eye care more affordable and accessible.
