Longleat is a favourite local haunt for Frome people, and we have a fine collection of photographs of the Estate & articles on Frome People here.

Security Guards around the grounds are now challenging walkers & cyclists, preventing them using the land for casual dog-walking or cycling. The grounds include access for Sustrans Route 24 of the national Cycle Network, which connects Longleat to Frome & on to Radstock.
See the report in the Wiltshire Times and Longleat Lockout Fury in the Express.
What do you think? Should Frome people pay for access to one of their best local landscapes?

ReportNigelSH is correct, unfortunately the landowner can close many of these routes as they see fit.

ReportThis is a PR disaster locally for Longleat and Lord Bath. I urge them to reconsider this policy.

ReportIf the NCN cycle routes are not on a public right of way then they can be closed at the whim of the landowner. Most off-highway cycle routes in this area are not legal rights of way - this includes pretty well all of the off-highway NCN24 Colliers Way. They are permissive paths, where public use is by permission of the landowner only.
