The Gospel according to Twitter

Michael Gove announced this week that every school in the country is to get a copy of the latest version of the King James Bible, with a forward written by the man himself. This was immediately pounced upon by the chattering classes and dubbed "Goves Bible", the "Bible according to Gove" or "The book of Gove".

The twitterati then got to work suggesting what the bible may contain, and in addition what the bible according to Labour and the bible according to the Lib Dems might look like as well, here are a few of my personal favourite tweets over the last couple of days: See Shepton in Blue http://sheptonconservatives.blogspot.com/2011/11/gospel-according-to-twitter.html

Hello Roger, I posted a response with my phone, but it seems to have been lost. In short I was responding to the whole thread, started by John. I do think when people (John2010) write " I'll be watching" its a bit menacing and smacks of bullyboy tactics. This is a site for ordinary people not for banging on about national politics that is largely irrelevant, particularly IN FROME!!

    Best Wishes

Seriously Anthony, and I do realise you may not have been joking:-

    * I don't want anyone's vote and am not a member of any political party. As a citizen, when I can be bothered and have the time, I'll make a modest contribution to debate now and then.

    * In the local elections I voted for candidates from 2 parties, IfF and Labour - with reservations about both parties, if you want a precise calibration of my low life party politics.

    * I do live in Frome

    * I happen to think some national issues - eg the Mary Portas report - do apply to Frome and are worthy of discussion

    * I'd include government education policy, because we have schools as well as shops in Frome. I thought the LoveFrome comments went a bit far thus the capitalisation to make a facile point (which obviously you found hilarious)

    * I was responding to someone else's posting about the Michael Gove bible stuff - which I do consider just a bit weird

    * I'm genuinely sorry if you found this, or anything else I've said, intimidating or bullying - which is not my intention.

    * If you'd like to get in touch, you can look me up on Facebook, I use my real name here. I'd be happy to discuss this or something more interesting.

    Best wishes,

    Roger

Do you really think a public display of bully boy tactics will endear your party to voters?
This site is for and about FROME PEOPLE not for low life party politics. Your comments clearly have nothing whatsoever to do with Frome nomatter how much CAPITALIZATION you use. If you want to talk about politics how about the disproportionate impact of Somersets policies onFrome or the ludicrous waste of our money on Mendips office revamp. No I'm not a LibDem. A Plague on all your houses.

Interesting decision by MIchael Gove to give the King James bible to every state school in FROME. Don't know what the guardian angels who make decisions about children's progress at the Steiner "free" school (in FROME) will make of it.

To cut to the chase: isn't there something just a little creepy and misjudged about a politician writing a personal forward to the bible (even once), never mind having it distributed across the land. What's next, a hologram of MIchael Gove's image to be projected into the night sky above every school? (in FROME).
