Frome's Deadly is the Female boosted by Nigella's wiggle

Our lovely retailer Claudia, at the top of Catherine Hill, helped to create a media stir this week when her red 'wiggle' dress, known as Billion Dollar Baby was pictured in two national newspaper. Curvy Nigella Lawson was pictured in both the Mail and later in the Daily Express wearing the red dress as she hit America. The publicity helped to put both Deadly is the Female and Frome on the map.

Claudia said "Nigella tweeted the link to our shop three times – once straight after the show last Tuesday, once over the weekend and once in between... I sold out straight away, but managed to get more in last week. But it's been going mad all over again with orders and inquiries from all over the world."
Deadly is the Female is one of many relative newcomers to Frome which have together helped the town, and in particular the 'St. Catherines' area of Frome thrive in recent years. Stony Street, Catherine Hill, Paul Street and Catherine Street make up some of the loveliest streets in town. From a very low point back in 1997 when 60% of the shops in the area were empty, the Hill now appears to be the most vibrant part of the town, with several celebrities seen hanging out and some extremely quirky and fascinating shops.
Kate Davis recently wrote about a trip to Catherine Hill in Frome saying "Jen and I worked (and plotted) really hard, and then then took an afternoon off to potter around town. I'm really glad we did, as Frome is a place that seems to demand pottering. Everywhere you look, there are inviting windows to peer into. . ." She was particularly interested in Marmalade Yarns, which sells her book and patterns.
