Many of the new budget lines, explained further within the agenda paper, are based upon the Council's future actions arising from the new Strategic Plan. As well as identifying new budget lines, and whilst considering inflation, the Council has managed to identify £101,500 worth of cuts to reduce the overall impact on the reserves and the precept (Council Tax).
The new budget lines / actions arising from the Strategic Plan are:
Economic Development
Apprenticeship
Street Furniture, Interactive Street Map and Signage
Shared Space and Market Place Feasibility
Enhanced Cleaning and Town Centre Improvements
Youth Council to support Youth Services
Arts Strategy
Partnerships, Community Development and Grants
Restore/Extend Recycling Centre Opening Hours
Carbon Audit
The Council intends not to draw on reserves but to increase the precept for the town council by 37p per week or £1.59 per month for the average band D Property.
As there will be no increases in other areas of government/police or fire (they are to receive funding equivalent to 2.5% direct from Central Government) the average Band D property paying £1504 per annum in 2011/12 would pay £1523 in 2012/13, an increase of £19.10 per annum or 1.2%.
All the relevant documents can be downloaded from the Full Council meeting link on the Councils website

The meeting is to be held at 7pm at Selwood School - see the IfF website for more information.
