Frome Running Club's Robin-Mark Schols finished 21st in a field of nearly 90 at the Plain Crazy 12-mile race last Thursday.

The race is put on by the Warminster branch of the Royal British Legion and starts and finishes at the Land Warfare Barracks in the town.

It leaves runners exposed to the elements, strong winds and icy rain in this case, but Schols finished the race in a time of 1hr 21mins 33secs.

Meanwhile, five Frome RC members, along with one junior member, took part in the Southwick Parkrun just before Christmas.

Heavy rain in the preceding week made conditions difficult, with flooding ankle-deep on a number of corners.

Dan Berryman was fourth overall and third male in a time of 19mins 28secs. Damon Lanfear was the next Frome finisher in 21:05, two seconds ahead of Ben Barrell, who just missed out on a new PB.

Simone Dumergue and Judy Bryant, who both compete in the FV40 category, completed the course in 27:49 and 29:14 respectively, while junior James Barrell came home in 35:12.

Frome RC meet every Wednesday at the rugby club on Gypsy Lane at 6.45pm, ready to run at 7pm. For more information, visit www.fromerunningclub.org.uk.
