Liam Copp holed a birdie putt on the final hole of his second round as he won the Frome GC club championships at the weekend.

The championships were held over two days for the first time and were well supported, with a 65-strong field taking to the course on Saturday morning.

Trevor Atkinson and Andy Martin were tied for the lead after the opening round, both scoring a gross 71, with Martin recovering from an eight on the par-four second hole.

Although the sun was shining on Sunday, the wind had picked up to make life more difficult for the competitors.

After an epic final round, spectators watched in silence as Copp rolled in his birdie putt for a gross round of 70, one over par.

The annual ladies' club championship also took place on Sunday, with some testing pin positions.

Elaine Richardson held things together to compile a winning round.

The seniors championship was held last Thursday, with rain persisting for most of the day and testing the 58 players' endurance.

The club would like to thank all the staff who helped ensure the smooth running of the various championships.
