Chance to 'try before you buy' a home in Frome

If you thought getting on the housing ladder was just a pipe dream then local housing provider Flourish Homes may have the solution.

 

It has 2 and 3 bedroom family homes on its new development in Randolph Road and Singers Knoll which are being offered on a 'try before you buy' basis. This means people could rent the homes at a lower-than-market rent while they save towards buying a share in the home after that time. There will be 20 new homes – 15 two bedroomed homes and five three bedroomed homes at Singers Knoll.

 

Another interesting alternative is to buy one of the homes as shared ownership, which offers homeownership in bite sized chunks. These homes are offered for sale at shares between 25% and 75% of the equity. Owners then pay Flourish Homes a subsidised rent on the remaining un-purchased share of the home.

at a special Open House planned for Saturday June 25 between 11am and 3pm at 14 Randolph Road.

 

"Both this 'try before you buy' type of renting and shared ownership offer a lot of flexibility and are a great way for people to get a foot on the housing ladder if they can't afford to buy outright," explained Amy Mackay, Head of Sales and Marketing at Aster Group which is selling the homes on behalf of Flourish.

 

"There are certain conditions you have to meet. You do have to show that you can't afford to buy a house on the open market. The properties will all come fully carpeted and with fitted kitchens, including oven.

The gardens will have a shed, water butt and rotary washing line. The homes will also have photovoltaic panels on the roof which use light to generate electricity for the home, helping to cut household bills.
