A group of about 30 anti-badger cull campaigners met in Frome to raise awareness of the government's plans to reduce the spread of Bovine TB in cattle.

The Badger Night Walkers spokesman, Adrian Coward, said the group wanted to meet Frome people to encourage them to write to their MP, David Heath, who is the minister for Defra.

Mr Coward said: "We were heartened by the warm response received and almost unanimous support against the proposed killing."

He added that all of those engaged in discussion thought that killing badgers would not solve the Bovine TB problem.

About 500 leaflets were distributed encouraging the public to write to or contact Mr Heath, to question the government's policy and make clear the overwhelming public opinion against killing badgers.

Further similar activity will follow across Mr Heath's Frome and Somerton constituency.

Well done Badger Night Walkers! The public, science, many farmers and rural businesses, conservationists, most MPs and economists are on your side.

What is REALLY puzzling is Ministers Heath and Paterson's enthusiasm for organising the mass killing of badgers even though they know better cattle controls are already significantly reducing cattle bTB and when they've been told - repeatedly and from many different quarters - that culling badgers for 9 years will do damn all to reduce cattle bTB. WHY are they being so pig-headed? What's their hidden agenda?
