Autumn, the "season of mists, and mellow fruitfulness"

Autumn, the "season of mists, and mellow fruitfulness" is upon us, with harvests of blackberries in the hedgerows, and apples all ripe for the picking.

Already there's a nip in the morning air, and soon we will enjoy walking through gold and russet leaves, as they billow down to settle on our pavements.

Time now to think ahead and prepare for Winter, to buy our fuel and chop our logs, ready for frosts and snow (wherever did we put that shovel?).

Christmas, too, will be upon us sooner than we think; with all the presents to buy, cards to write, cake and pudding to make, turkey to order, tree and decorations!

Nana and Grandad are coming to spend Christmas with us, Aunty Ann too. How will they like our new house. Heavens, where shall we put them all?

Well, Nana and Grandad can have the spare bedroom; but we really need a sofabed for Aunty Ann! Hey! Good job I went window shopping in Frome the other day, and passed "Sofabulous," which has some gorgeous sofas and sofabeds! I can just imagine us all curled up on one of them, in the sitting room, all cosy, with the fire lit and curtains drawn after Christmas dinner!

High time we got a new sofa, anyway!
